Assignment:
Your Heads in the Clouds
Clouds have a wonderful way of looking like things - dogs, cats, Mickey
Mouse, anything with enough imagination. In this assignment, students will use photoshop
to shape the clouds into realistic but improbable images.
Advanced students are to create 3 image. The first two will be animals of
your choosing. Find images on the internet to use as reference. The third image will be a
company logo. Choose a logo that DOES NOT include writing. Students in each period will
need a unique logo, so check with me to see if anyone else is using the logo you want. The
cloud images are found on the Cloud Page.
Digital Graphics Honors students are to choose one of the famous
paintings below and create an impossible landscape - a sky with clouds in the shape of
that image. Copy small samples of the the clouds found on the Cloud
Page and paste them on top of the painting. Turn, trim, stretch, and shade the pieces
until they reproduce the image. Try to keep the clouds as realistic as possible. Each
artwork can only be used by one student, so sign on the sheet at the front of the room
which artwork you will use.
Suggestions:
-Set the lasso tool option for a feather of one pixel for a soft edge.
-Use the magic wand to select and remove any blue from the clouds,
the old sky will seldom blend well with the new sky.
-Concentrate on the shapes, not the lights or darks of the painting.
